DANCE CITY: BREMEN DANCE CITY 11 – 12 June 2005 DANCE CITY. Don’t we know it by now? But not like this: Because after TANZstart, TANZmedien, TANZköpfe and TANZeuropa, TANZstadt is the grand finale of the first series of five TANZstadt: BREMEN weekends. The seven institutions joined together in TANZstadt: BREMEN ( Bremer Tanztheater, Festival TANZ Bremen, Deutsches Tanzfilminstitut Bremen, tanzwerk, steptext dance project, Impuls e.V., DeLooPERS) have shown what they are made of in a variety of ways. Together it is even more fun. The audience was able to experience how diversely dance is represented in Bremen. Five of the partners put a weekend under their very special motto for the first year (see News \ Text Archive). The steptext dance project now ignites a dance finale firework over the city with DANCE City.

 

As a freelance company, the steptext dance project has always been in close contact with the audience and loves to perform in the craziest places in the city. And so this weekend dance comes to the audience: Surprising encounters with dance in the city centre and on the banks of the Weser. And more: flamenco, salsa, tap, oriental dance, jazz dance, break dance, African dance and hip hop in the open-air dance “Artevale” in the park behind the Kunsthalle and watch out: on Sunday in Bremerhaven’s theatre at the Fischereihafen. Because dancers from Bremerhaven are taking part, and Sunday is excursion day to the mouth of the Weser. In the evening: “Irrwege”. The ballet of the Bremerhaven City Theatre brings the fascination of exploring new things and leaving familiar paths onto the stage – in keeping with the motto of TANZstadt. Two accompanying exhibitions, two parties, a ghost train, a train station, a jail … and many, many other places let it rip. The steptext dance projekt holds the match to the fuse of TANZstadt: BREMEN and guests.
