With the combination of archive and professional production, the German Dancefilm Institut is a unique institution in Europe.

We create productions for TV-stations about current events in dance and features about specific themes of dance. Editors and film-makers use the archive for their reports on dance. Apart from video-documentations for companies and choreographers, the institute also creates multi-media and print productions.

Most of the institute’s productions are available for non-commercial usage as VHS-copie or DVD for a fee.

The German Dance Film Institute is a document archive, in which the stocks are only available on site. Other potential uses arise after consultation with rights holders for specific inquiries.

The issue of spirituality proves that dance can express things which are otherwise hard to put into words.

The examples range from “Messiah Game“ by choreographer Felix Ruckert up to current productions by Pina Bausch.

The edition “Four Days” is looking at the impact of the German-Jewish culture on the artistic life in Israel. What could those, who had to flee from the Nazi regime, contribute to their new home? What kind of immaterial goods, capacities and Arts did they bring in their luggage?

Wera Goldmann was born in Vienna in 1921. She began dancing as a young girl. In 1938 she emigrated to Palestine, where she danced in the company of Gertrud Kraus. Her life journey led her to Australia, India and back to Israel.

She became famous for her choreography and dance performance of the old Jewish legend “Dybbuk”. To this day, she is sharing her vast knowledge about dance with the young dancers of Israel, teaching them in the Arts. Wera Goldman is living in Tel Aviv.
